In the next few days there will be many winners crossing the finish line as they log in their word counts. The idea was 50,000 words in 30 days. I am happy to report that I did it!

Wow-ee.
I feel it is necessary to add that the novel now needs a ton of work. Editing galore, scenes needing tweaking, and much weighing of words await me in the coming months. I look forward to going back and adding the shading, darkening the color here and there and defining the lines to make them jump out and grab you as you read.
It was especially surprising that the characters took the story for unexpected twists and turns. I had to trust them. There were a few spots where I wasn’t too sure they knew where they were going, but they got back on track soon enough. It really seemed to take on a life of its own. That was very surprising to me.
I am considering posting a couple more excerpts in the coming week. For now I am just content for you to know that I finished. Yes!

Congratulations, Angie! You rock!
Have fun with your editing/revising/rewriting.
Becky, thank you so much. I really am looking forward to going back into the story and shaping it. Love ya!
Congrats!!! That is awesome
Maureen, thank you! Next year – you and me, kid. If you start mulling it over now you might have a pretty formidable outline (beginning, middle and end at least) to burst out all over next November.
I’m so proud of you!! What a GRAND accomplishment! Can’t wait to see it in print next!
Livvy Lu, thank you!
Congratulations! Wow! That is a lot of work! I am not surprised to find that characters go off and do things that surprise you. I find that when I write, too. Interesting, isn’t it?
Ellie, your characters have a mind of their own, too? It is very interesting. Their behavior changed a good 2/3 of what I had planned for the book. I got all panicky at the end there trying to work it out like I wanted. There are still some dangling scenes where we could not come to a peaceable agreement so we decided to let things cool off a bit and come back around to the issues at a later date. Maybe they will listen to me then. (They will probably win, though.)
good for you! i can’t imagine how much time, effort, focus, and creativity it took to pull that off. kludos, friend. do something fun to celebrate!
Something fun, eh? Any suggestions?
Congratulations!
Thank you Jutta!
@ngie, that is fantastic news! Good on you! I can’t wait to read it!
Birgit, I would love for you to read it, too. I am going to do some revision and editing first.
Does that certificate say that you won!?!?
I am proud of you.
Considering how crazy life has been for you lately, this is a huge accomplishmant!
Carin, thank you! I heard a quote once: “When you need to have something done ask a busy person to do it, Busy people know how to get stuff done.” I kinda get into a zone during certain times of my life. I used to yearn for balance in my daily or even weekly way of life. It took off a bunch of pressure when I permitted myself to recognize the seasons like waves. Now I go with the flow. When it is time to hunker down and work hard I can do it. Then when it is time to pull back and rest I can do that too.
Oh, and anyone who ‘finishes’ the 50,000 words in 30 days is proclaimed a ‘winner’. So far there are about 32,000 winners. ‘Round about 19% of the total number of participants.
cool! i even loved how you wrote this post.
mass impressed! great job.
Thanks Thumbuddy!
