Two Things You Need to Know

By @ngie

It has been about a month since the last adoption update. Since I am a bit wound up I will attempt to stick to the facts and not enter into much speculation.

Thing One – The Judge Shuffle

At the beginning of the year there were two judges overseeing adoptions. Both of them have quit. Last week a new judge was instated to take over their cases and try to make up for much lost time. My lawyer is not exactly thrilled with this new judge because she has worked with her in the past. We will pray for her.

One of the priorities that this new judge is choosing to focus her energy on is the handicapped children. She has stated that she will not be making assignments of any other children until January 2010.

Thing Two – The Option to Request

The option they have given us is to present a request for the assignment of a child who has all their papers in order and has not yet been assigned to a family. This is good news.

What this means is that we have been given the permission to hunt down a child. The child must be ready to be adopted and simply awaiting assignment. We would then present the courts with that child’s name and a request that this child be assigned to us. This morning I set loose the social workers I know to scour the land for an eligible child. They are making calls and I will know more later on this evening. One of them even knows someone who has some kind of master list of all the children ready and waiting. Hopefully we will find a child in this fashion.

This option is a good option. It works for us because we have connections on the inside. We can work the system. We can find our child.

The Speculative Part

Does this mean that we can present the request for a child from our own orphanage? That is something we are looking into. With the changes and the new liberty with this new judge this might be an option.

What are DaRonn and I thinking? Oh so many things! We know that there are sibling groups awaiting assignment in our home and in the homes of other people. Should we request a sibling group in order to expedite the process? Maybe. A brother and sister? A sister and sister? Should we open up the age group to have more options? Probably.

The Praying Part

Direction. Peace. Wisdom. Favor. Gratitude!

Amen.

ok, I was already wondering where you are at. This last week two of my single friends were able to pick up their child, but the legal papers are not yet complete. Exciting times!

I have tears in my eyes and Holy Spirit goosebumps all over! Oh Ang! I’m PRAYING…and asking for buckets of favor, wisdom and peace to pour over you and DaRonn! Wouldn’t it be just like God to give you a DOUBLE portion after such a crazy chaotic process??

No wonder you’ve been on the mind and in the heart here lately!

Big, big hugs!!

About

On this journey of life, sharing my existence with God’s wonderful creation, there is nothing that thrills my heart more than knowing that my moments drip with purpose and destiny.

Oh sure, there are the dull and uninteresting tasks that we all have to do, but mixed up in there with all the ‘have-to’ there is a wealth of ‘get-to’ that drives my being. (more...)
