Love your rules for shopping!

Add cold weather, stockings, wool coats and English…it could be the market in Stockport, England.

I miss those days.

To get to the one in Dallas…well…it’s not much fun unless you LOVE traffic…ugh.

My ‘pooter isn’t working with me. First it stopped at 2:09, then I refreshed the page and the video … and it stopped at :13. :( But … what I saw looked like fun! We have farmer’s markets up here in the summer and fall. I love shopping there. Better produce – all fresh from the ‘garden’. :) Yummy. Better prices too.

We went there every Sat. when we lived in Coch. I would buy fresh flowers almost weekly cause they were so cheap and amazingly beautiful! Wish we had something like that here!

Carin – Aaww, you are so nice! Why ask why… ? :-) Really though, there are a few reasons.

Better price… Yes. Significantly better prices even than the market you saw from my window right next door.

Better quality… Yes. From the grocery store it just doesn’t taste as good.

Better selection… Yes. This is the biggie for me. I like the options that the Saturday market provides me.

Seeing people I know… People come from all parts of the city to shop at the Saturday market and I like running into people I know and chatting for a bit. I almost included that in the video but decided against it.

Cleanliness… Produce from the Cancha (the huge everyday market on the other side of town) is much cheaper but it is so filthy down there. Here they keep it more clean.

Flowers… I didn’t show this part on the video either but there is a flower section that I like to bu from too. It is year round as well.

People interaction… My vendors know me and I know them; that quality relationship is important to me.

Out of doors… I am an outdoorsy gal and the morning at the market gives me a chance to put on my sunglasses and get a bit of a burn on my shoulders. I like that. The other markets are enclosed and so is the supermarket.

Cultural connection… I feel more connected to the Bolivian people when I shop there.

Well roundedness…. It makes for some interesting stories.

Yes, now I remember you saying that once before :) But, at least if you HAVE to do it, its way better than standing in lines and isles in a crowded grocery store. I guess its the atmosphere that I love about the market more than the store……it seems less like work to me :)
