On with the nutty, mixed-up, crunchy, munchy life I lead…
- DaRonn won the city-wide Bowling Championship last night by eight points! Yeah! I would have gone with the kids but DaRonn called me just as I was about to walk out the door (he had gone early to warm up) and said that at the last minute they changed some of the rules and there would be two extra games to play. This meant that they would not be finished until about 10:45 pm. A bit past the fan club members bed time. He also said that they were going to hand out the awards on another date. So we will take the kids when that happens.
- Tyler broke out with Chicken Pox yesterday which means he was contagious Sunday when he was in the nursery. Oops. He had a slight fever this morning and has been a bit cuddly but he doesn’t seem to be suffering or itching even though he has about a hundred spots on his little almost-two-year-old body.
- Tomorrow is Bolivia’s Independance Day. There are parades and everyone has the day off.
- In the evening tomorrow we have our monthly women’s meeting at church. I will be speaking about turning obstacles into opportunities and trusting God that all things work together for the good. You can pray for that.
- Including tomorrow night’s meeting I will have taught six times in the last week. It has been good to teach. I am so grateful that I have helpers to free me up.
- Today is a milestone for me personally. It marks one month of my plan to read the entire bible in Spanish. I feel I am at a good level in my Spanish that I can read fluidly without laborious stops to look up what a word means. Without a plan it is more than likely not going to happen in Angie-world.
- I am happy to have a partner who also has a desire to read the bible cover to cover. We are emailing to help keep eachother on track. I thank God for you Amy!
- It is illegal for us to have Sunday morning service on the 10th due to a nation wide vote taking place that day to see if we should redo the presidential election from 2005. Pray for this country to be at peace. The results will be mostly felt in La Paz. God help us.
- We did a huge cleaning of the kids’ rooms last week and hauled out no less than 12 garbage bags full of stuff to throw or give away. It feels great!
- Gabrielle will be seven on the 12th. Yeah for her!
- Watched a laughed-till-I-cried movie: “Meet Dave”. Hilarious!
Whew! With a snack of Trail Mix that size we have spoiled our dinner for sure. It was sure yummy though, wasn’t it?

YAY DaRonn!! Wahoo!! The awards ceremony will be fun, the younger fans in your family will be so excited to see their Dad get his award. Great news!
Eek – poor Tyler, chicken pox are miserable
Hope he feels better soon.
Yay you! How wonderful that you have taught six times in the past week, how great! Is it a series that you’re teaching, or is God inspiring you with different themes each time.
And one more thing, you can read the Bible in Spanish?! Wow, that is real literacy! Good on you girl.
Birgit – Thank you for your encouraging words of kindness. The teachings were varied. It was fun. Yes, the literacy is a great thing. We are coming up on seven years of language learning. I may have been able to do it a couple of years ago; but my life circumstances were not conducive to the rigidity I wanted to employ when accomplishing this goal. Now that I have help in the house and my baby is not so much a baby I can give it the attention I want to.
AWESOME DaRONN!!! Remind me not play against you.
Chickenpox my friend I’ll pray for… Find some oatmeal now!!!
Hey I have a few boxes here in California to clean?? Ready for the challenge. Oh I am supposed to do that!!!
Hi friend!!!
Heidi my friend – He isn’t itching at all; he seems to have a high tolerance for pain, bless his heart. I do have the oatmeal if needs be though.
As for the challenge of the boxes in California… I didn’t mention that only one of those bags was complied by yours truly. I told the kids that they couldn’t watch movies, t.v., or play on the computer until all their belongings fit into the spaces I had designated for them. Would you believe that it took those three troopers eight days to complete their mission? I told them to take their time and if they got tired to take a break. It was really interesting to watch them this past week. I love the variety of personalities we have in our house.
Good luck on your challenge.
Friend, please blog about these personalities. I want to to know if my teenagers and seven yr old fit in these molds and HOW you dealt with it!!
BTW: they don’t start itching until they burst (highly contagious then)
Heidi – hmm… I could do a personalities blog… good idea
Yay for your hubby winning the bowling championship. I am horrible at bowling.
I’m sorry to hear your son broke out in Chicken Pox! That’s no bueno! Odd fact, you can get Chicken Pox more than once. I had them twice.
Feliz dia de independencia (it’s late, not sure if that is spelled right.)
Good for you on reading the Bible in spanish! And yay for accountablitly partners. I have a parallel Bible in English and Spanish. I love it!
Angie, thank you for your kinds words, you produced the first tears of the day. Your words really meant a lot and I needed and felt your prayers.
WAY TO GO DaRONN!!!! You’d man!! Woot, Woot!!
Ang…it’s amazing you have any free time hon!! I’m amazed at how much you are getting done! Any kudos for inspiring your kiddos to sort and organize their prized possessions! They will find their newly organized rooms refreshing and peaceful! I’m doing the very same thing in my office prior to school starting. How’d you handle the non-motivated procrastinator??? Surely you have one of those in your group?? I need ALL the help and prayers I can get when it comes to organization with paper stuff!! YUCK!
What a bummer that you can’t meet on the day of the vote. That’s some powerful separation between church and state, eh? Will keep you in my prayers for peace and safety…as surely there will be a protest of sometime eh? Tis Bolivia!!
Will keep little Ty in my prayers as well. Guess they don’t have the chicken pox vacinne in Bolivia, eh? It’s another one of those REQUIRED shots here now in the States. I guess cuz we all died from in when we had it in our childhood…oh wait…I’m still alive…hmmmmm! How’d that happen??? (Libby stepping off soapbox now…)
Now go put your feet up for a moment and sip some coffee or tea!
UGHHH…should of edited first. First paragraph “AnD kudos”…Third paragraph “protest of some TYPE eh?” Fourth paragraph “died from IT”
Gimmine crickets…I usually do so much better. Sorry!
Congrats to your hubby
I’m so sorry to hear about the littlest member of your family… may it pass quickly and the nursery kiddos be spared!
Sounds like your teaching would be perfect timing for me… maybe I could quickly jet down to Bolivia… wouldn’t that be great!!
One month in on reading… I’m so glad to be walking this road with you.
Yummy mix… I’m full
Interesting. Pray for peace… The results will most likely be felt in La Paz (the peace).
Hugs to Tyler!
Brandy Bear – I hope that the tears were cleansing to your soul. I don’t really enjoy crying, but sometimes it can be helpful.
Libby – I had some coffee.
The non-motivated procrastinator… well, I told them that the job might take them a day or it might take them a week, so that removed the pressure and gave them ample time to do a good job.
Amy – I know that a teaching is so much better in person… but I could post my points here; every little bit helps.
Kendra – It boggles my mind that the seemingly most polemic city is called “Peace”; may God make it so.
ALL – thank you for your prayers; they make all the difference in the world
YAY DARONN!!!!!!!
Thanks cuz’
high-five, daronn. we knew you’d do it!
sorry to hear about tyler’s pox… no fun. i’m glad he’s being such a champ through it though. wow.
did things get crazy on independence day?
wild to hear about them voting about redoing the vote from 2005. a bit late, but… hmm… praying for peace.
alece – since most people had today off many of them stayed up all night drinking. How would I know that? So as I was walking to the front gate to go running with my friend I hear yelling, a bottle smash on the cement, and more yelling. She slipped in when I cracked it open and said, “Yeah, that just missed me.” After a brief discussion about it we decided it would be safer to return to our beds. But throughout the day they had a couple parades and the city was quiet.
woah… that’s what i figured might happen.glad you stayed in and are safe.
you figured that? you are one smart cookie.
yes, DaRonn was happy with our decision too.
Woah!!! I can totally hear Miss M say that too!!! Oh I’m so glad you’re both safe and have had some extra rest!!
hey there. sorry i’m still m.i.a.
i’m sorry that lil tyler has the pox. how’s he feeling? what about your other ones?
congrats to daronn!
thats wonderful that you are teaching.
love you.
Very yummy! Very munchy!!
I love that my computer doesn’t recognize the word “munchy”.
Hooray DaRonn! That’s fantastic!
Aww … little boy. Chicken pox are not fun. I remember.
Congrats on the teaching! That’s great! Do you feel rejuvenated, taking it in stride, or depleted from it? I’m curious.
Wow – the Bible in Spanish, huh? I love that you call yours an ‘entry’ level. lol. Mine would be …. gotta say ‘mustard seed.’
Congrats on the birthdays and the cleaned-out house! (or more cleaned out.) Mine needs that.
k, love you!
Danielle – The other ones are fine. My two oldest had the shot. I can’t remember abut Gabrielle, we’ll find out in a couple weeks.
Anita amiga – ‘entry level’? are you referring to where I said ‘entire bible’? Oh, and I am reading ‘La Biblia de las Americas’ version (New American Standard in Spanish). I started out on ‘La Nueva Version Internacional (NIV in Spanish) when I begin learning Spanish. But I wanted to read a more literal version yet step away from the archaic Reina Valera.
Oh my word, you didn’t say entry level!!! I must have been WAY more tired than I thought! LOL.
Yeah, as far as translations, New American Standard is my favorite. But it’s SO copywrited … I’ve been waiting for an audio Bible in NAS to come out for years. And I think if I keep waiting it’s going to be AWHILE. So I’m pretty much switching to NKJ. It’s quite close to NAS actually, and does exist in audio form. Why am I intent on audio and why does that make such a difference? (in case you’re wondering) … Well … God gave me a distinct capacity to memorize many things and in large quantities. I’ve had it on my heart for many years to start memorizing the Bible. I think it’s the best possible thing I could store in this vault of mine, and I want to use it. I don’t actually know if I can memorize the whole Bible … I do know I can memorize a whole book. When I was little, Mom put on Scripture tapes every time we were sick or had trouble sleeping. Being tapes, one by one they broke, until only Mark was left. That one lasted quite awhile. As a result, I had the whole gospel of Mark memorized (well, from chapter 3 on). I know that the audio helps me memorize; that’s why I’m intent on getting the Bible on CD. I did have the Bible in NIV (this is getting to be a long explanation) but … the problem is that what is memorized in my head talks louder than what I’m reading with my eyes. So when I read in NAS and hear NIV in my head … it’s a bit cacophonic. So I want them to match. At this point, it seems that NKJ is my best bet. sigh. I’m still working on mobilizing this. As I said, it’s been on my heart for years.
That is funny… I used to be a NKJV gal all the way. But I was not happy with the Spanish ‘version’ of the new Reina Valera. So in Spanish I am LBLA (la Biblia de las Americas) and in English I am currently exploring what the Message has to offer.
That really is a wonderful thing that you are able to memorize things. You go for it! I hear that Marilyn Hickie (sp?) does quite a bit of scripture memorization, like books at a time.
huh! I didn’t know that!
Oh, and another personal favorite for translations is JPS. Jewish Publication Society. I have a Tanakh Hebrew/English translation. There’s so much more emotion in it than typical English translations!
