20 x 15 = 300
Twenty tiny fingers and toes of fifteen happy little children have 300 nails to be clipped. That was my job today during my weekly time in our House of Dreams Orphanage. Do you know how long it takes to clip that many nails? Two hours! The time flew by as I talked with, prayed over and tickled the toddlers as they sat in their plastic chairs and let me snip and clip. Jesus got to wash the feet; I get to clip the nails. Same dif’ right?
Here is a link to a video we made today of Alicia; the newest and youngest treasure in our home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7Le5XbPX7M

Anita la lista – I love logic; but I am so not a math person. Do you know how many times I looked at that simple equation just to make sure it was right? I am too embarrassed to say. So thank you for noticing the effort.
To know that I made you smile made me smile. hee hee hee.
(and I replied to your comment over on Alece’s blog about the timing of our chats…)
Roocita amiguita – Yes! yeah for normal.
that is a lot of time and a lot of clipping and a lot of love poured out on little ones.
you were born to be there.
Alece – Wow. Those are some powerful words right there. Hmmmm. You stirred my heart.
(i just got to watch the video… Alicia is a cutie-pie. And you are a natural on-camera. I love those dimples of yours and you’re so darn cute! Seriously.
FYI — I couldn’t hear the audio until about :30…)
::BLUSH:: Thank you for saying all those sweet things.
I want to do more stuff on my own with video, but it requires a learning curve, an upgrade in hardware and memory as well as research to know what editing program is most comprehensive and able to do what I want it to do.
Yes – the sound is really low for the first part… :-/ … so you can’t hear it well how her name is pronounced. It is (a – lease’ – ee – a). Like your name with an (-ia) at the end.
i figured that was the pronunciation.
in spanish class in high school we could choose a spanish name of our choice, which we used in class. i was alecia, pronounced the same way…
The therapist in me wonders if your trimmer hand has a cramp from repeative use/trauma. The other thought was, how in the world do you keep all those kiddos calm and still while cutting all those nails? Next…I wonder what a pile of 300+ nails looks like. And finally…I pray you saw no blood! (Or you might not be asked back for that job again!) Next time, please give each kiddo an extra hug & kiss from Miss Livvy!
15…have some been adopted since I’ve been there? And little Alicia is PRECIOUS!!!! And yes, you’re a natural in front of the camera…and ditto on the dimples comment!!
How lovely that you get to be Mom to all those little ones
. It was so good to see your video too, Alicia is a precious, and it was great to see you “in person”
God bless
Alece – The ‘true’ translation of the Spanish name ‘Alicia’ is ‘Alice’ (like in Wonderland), but whenever I can I like to pronounce their Spanish names in Gringo (Spanish with an American accent) so that it is a bit more authentic. Does that make sense? At least that is how my brain works.
Libby – You like the dimple huh?
No blood. One boy only wanted Chiqui to cut his nails, so I only got his hands done with much singing and back scratching. My hand is a bit sore today. The 15 are the ones who are not babies. We have six babies now. I had to get back home, or I would have gone to the baby room too. They were busy working at their tables with puzzles, reading books, doing play dough, etc. with the other instructor.
Birgit – Thank you for the blessing. It adds a whole new perspective when you can put a voice with the face and words, doesn’t it? Do you have any video available so I can see you ‘in person’? Blessings to you too.
Everyone – That last question goes for all my readers. I would love to see and hear you on video. If you have one available on the web get the links to me so I can ‘meet’ you.
Wow- that’s a lot of nails. My hubby is the one that does all the kiddo clipping in our house… for some reason I just get the heeby jeebies at the thought of messing up!
I loved what Alece wrote- and it so comes through when you share about your life… you were born to be there. Potent stuff.
Hi @ngie, There is a small part of an interview I did on You Tube, so that will hopefully give you some idea

“Do you know how long it takes to clip that many nails? Two hours! ”
The bigger question is, do you let them fall to the floor or do you collect them in a jar?
Amy – Thank you for re-sounding what Alece had you say. You are a dear!
Birgit – So nice to meet you! You are a lovely person. Thanks for posting the link.
totaltransformation – Yuck! no no no sir, no collecting here sir.
btw, I love your little names for me.
“Yuck! no no no sir, no collecting here sir.”
So you just let them fall on the floor. Ew. Does the floor crunch when you walk on it.
Anita amada – Me encanta llamarte por los apodos tambien…
totaltransformation – How did I know hat you were going to say something like that?
that’s awesome,friend. way to love.
Dictionaries are wonderful!
Danielle – yes, awesome is a good word for it.
Can you believe? I just re-read the post, and realized I didn’t watch the video! So I did that.
You’re adorable! So is little Alicia. The haircut is WAY cute on you.
Anita la chistosita –
I am glad you went to watch the video. Thank you for saying nice stuff.
