Warning: When you are in close proximity to a generous person you must be very cautious due to the highly contagious nature of giving. To avoid such fatal encounters maintain a fixed gaze at your own belly-button while shoving your closed fists deep into your pockets and walking briskly away from any human. The cure for this infectious malady is yet to be discovered. No treatment has been successful. To emphasize: generosity is contagious!
Case study #720 – Date log: June 25, 2008
Location: Cochabamba, Bolivia
Epicenter of outbreak: Iglesia Cristo Nacion
Report: Dozens of people witnessed the atrocity. One man began giving away t-shirts and books. Then another woman gave away an airplane ticket. Then the disease was out of control. In less than 10 minutes a spontaneous reaction occurred and another man gave away an oven, another his plumbing services, and still yet another woman gave away a scholarship to vacation bible school. All attempts to contain the insanity were futile. The entire group left the premises with an altered state of being. The generosity is beyond all know methods of treatment.
Symptoms: Include, but are not limited to, a sudden urge to strip yourself of material possessions, an overwhelming sense of goodwill towards other people, and a complete loss of desire to be repaid for your acts of kindness.
Projected effect on society: All precautionary measure should be taken immediately. If not contained this disease will spread at an alarming rate and will infect every nation and race in the world.

very creative!
what’s the story behind this?
You know…I’m going to say, what I always say…
C’mon, Angie, you know what it is….
Sweet diggity dog, God is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
Wowie…..good stuff! I am a “giver”, its one of my main spirtual gifts along with mercy. I love it when others get excited about giving and I love to encourage others to give because I have seen so many benefits from the Lord of when I give! Just typing it all out makes me excited!!!!!
g&g – (I hope you don’t mind that I am calling you that) – Well, at each night of the church’s anniversary celebration (yes, I am still blogging about that) we had a drawing for t-shirts and books. We pulled at least 15 numbers each night. So one of the nights before the drawing a travel agent gal, member of our church, asked if she could donate an airplane ticket to La Paz for the drawing. Of course! So we commenced with her gift and then went to the t-shirts and books. Then it just snow balled from there – spontaneous combustion! People just kept on standing up saying what they wanted to give away (all the things listed in the ‘report’ of the post). So we kept drawing numbers and giving stuff away. It really was beautiful.
Brandy – YOU are amazing, girl!
Sarah – I know how it feels to talk about what you are wired to do. I am glad that I get to know this bit about you: you are a giver and a mercy person. Wow – Botswana is a blessed country to have you there.
Such a great blog! Glad I found you (via In Progress).
Blessings,
Roxanne Kristina

and what a fantastic story! that is so wonderful.
That is SOOOOO cool! How exciting to see your little church just combust with spontaneous giving!! No wonder you’re still talking about your anniversary festivities!!
What an awesome blessing! The gift that keeps on giving and giving and giving!
Roxanne Welcome! Thank you for the compliment. I am glad you clicked through too.
g&g – I am glad you asked.
Libby – It is so very exciting!
Somehow I missed this one again! sigh.
Your story was great. And very creative way of telling it. I love that everything spirals upwards, getting bigger in the kingdom of God. Have you read my (ancient) post … uh …. I think I called it “upward spirals”? The term ‘downward spiral’ is a common one, and refers to something spinning in an ongoing manner which may be difficult to stop, and which inevitably results in each thing being worse than the last. This is actually upside-down. God’s world has upward spirals. Where one thing sparks another thing which sparks another thing – each of them better and better than the one before.
Don’t you love it?
Nope. The post was called ‘Spirals.’ It’s here: http://callingtodeep.blogspot.com/2006/10/spirals.html#links
